Jane Birkin, a British actor, and singer who rose to fame in France, died at 76 in Paris on 16th July 2023. With a legacy from singing to acting, Jane was also the main inspiration for the famous Birkin bags that have delighted the fashion world and served as their kind of inspiration for many related luxury items and accessories. According to a reputed publication, a lesser-known fact is that the actress while travelling in 1981 from Paris to London got an upgrade to business class on her Air France flight. She was seated next to Jean-Louis Dumas who was the CEO of Hermes then. Jane who was the mother of two, spilled all her belongings over the floor, which initiated the conversation between Jane and Jean. She shared her idea of an ideal purse with the CEO and Dumas designed the purse instantly on disposable bags. Once produced, they were named after Jane Birkin.
